TSE Buries Bitcoin Pharaoh’s Candidacy

The latest setback missing for the bitcoin pharaoh in the electoral justice system was assessed last Tuesday (11), resulting in the rejection of the candidacy registration of Glaidson Acácio dos Santos (DC) for the position of federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro.

Since trying to win a seat in the House of Representatives, Glaidson has sought public support from former clients to win his position, but he may have forgotten to make sure his candidacy was clean.

So when he had his candidacy analyzed by the judge in his state by the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ), magistrates understood that he would not be able to hold office if elected.

Rio’s Electoral Public Ministry also hinted that the bitcoin pharaoh’s candidacy posed a high risk and that the case would be referred to the highest body of justice.

TSE unanimously buries bitcoin pharaoh’s candidacy

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) plenary convened last Tuesday to review a number of cases pending in appeals from candidates running in the first round of the 2022 elections.

For example, an appeal from the defense of Glaidson Acácio dos Santos was analyzed by the ministers of the highest electoral court.

Among the ministers who took part in the analysis of the appeal was TSE president Alexandre de Morais and also STF minister Ricardo Lewandowski.

The rapporteur of the appeal, Minister Benedito Gonçalves, emphasized during the vote that Glaidson was a managing partner of cryptocurrency management firms, which had been removed in March 2022.

According to the data, the activities in the institutions were the subject of an investigation by the Federal Police into a financial pyramid scheme, involving approximately R$39 billion.

The ministers then decided by 7 votes to 0 to confirm the TRE-RJ’s decision on the matter, unanimously deciding what even the Electoral General Prosecutor had already understood.

Customers Tried to Publicly Defend Bitcoin Pharaoh

By sealing the bitcoin pharaoh’s candidacy, the TSE plenary is putting the matter in the past and burying any pretensions he had in the 2022 elections.

In any case, Glaidson received 37,000 votes from former principals, who supported his candidacy by the Christian Democratic Party.

Through social networks, customers still tried to say that the TSE’s decision was not biased, but the understanding of the electoral justice system on the matter has been consolidated.

It is worth remembering that even with broad support, Glaidson would not be elected, as his party did not reach the electoral quotient that would make him a candidate, even if his candidacy was legitimate.
