Nigel Farage, Former Brexit Party Leader, Calls Bitcoin “Economic Rebellion”

Nigel Farageknown as a TV presenter in the UK and as a leader of the British Independent Party, has become a Bitcoin supporter, call digital currencies an economic uprising.

In an interview during Bitcoin Amsterdam, a cryptocurrency-focused conference taking place in the capital of the Netherlands, Farage spoke about bitcoin and his vision of what the cryptocurrency market can bring for the future of the economy.

Nigel talked about how Bitcoin is seen, mainly by the traditional market, but that this is a natural path for any new disruptive idea that changes an established sector, comparing Bitcoin to the Brexit movement spearheaded by him and other leaders of the right-wing parties of the UK.

“Any new idea will automatically face opposition from the whole establishment because they’ve established the status quo, they’re very comfortable, they’re doing well, they don’t want anything to be destroyed by it.” said Farage about Bitcoin.

For example, Farage believes that Bitcoin can be a financial revolution for the future, that it represents a form of absolute freedom.

Bitcoin is an economic uprising

For Farage, Bitcoin is an important freedom tool that guarantees ordinary people the opportunity to rise up against the government and central banks in a revolt against these entities.

“Bitcoin is an economic revolution led by people who are concerned about the colossal size of the state and want to be free and independent, masters of their own destiny, so for me it’s natural that we support them.”

He also argued that bitcoin is the first popular cryptocurrency, the technology has proven to improve in recent years, while also remaining resilient as “Besides, the government can’t get their hands on it. Tell me what I can and can’t do with Bitcoin.”

In his view, this is absolute freedom, and if you work with lawmakers there is a chance for a reasonable level of regulation to ensure investor safety.

Farage also emphasized that many people, including lawmakers, still know little about cryptocurrency, which is why they view these projects as a pyramid scheme.
