Last Tuesday (11th), the mango markets suffered a hack of more than half a billion reais in cryptocurrencies. A day later, on Wednesday (12), the identity of the hacker was revealed in an investigation, but Avraham Eisenberg doesn’t seem too concerned about that.
Through his social networks, Eisenberg said this Saturday (15) for the first time publicly on the subject. According to the hacker, his actions were legal and did not constitute a crime.
Eisenberg is so sure he can get away with it that he even bets he won’t be charged.
“I bet my $250 with @sarah07144297’s $750 @avi_eisen [Avraham Eisenberg] will be charged with a crime until 12/31/23. I’m sure I paid too much for this, but I wanted some notoriety. I will buy more for 15%”commented user AG123 on Twitter.
“How much would you bet with me?” replied the hacker.
How many size would you sell me for 15

Mango hacker claims involvement in attack
Regarding his confession, Avraham Eisenberg stated that he collaborated with: “one team used a very profitable trading strategy”. That is, the hacker admitted to being involved but pleaded not guilty to the charges of theft.
“I believe all of our actions were legal, open market actions, using the protocol as designed, although the development team did not fully anticipate all the ramifications of setting the parameters as they are”stated Avraham Eisenberg.
“Unfortunately, the exchange where this happened, Mango Markets, went bankrupt.”
Unfortunately, the exchange on which this happened, Mango Markets, went bankrupt, leaving the insurance fund insufficient to cover all liquidations. This resulted in other users not being able to access their funds.

He then points out that he is aware that the users of the platform “no access to your money”but who tried to help the project recover that amount.
To that end, Eisenberg made a bold proposal to the Mango community. He offered to repay all the money if he received $50 million ($266 million) and all charges were settled.
However, it was rejected with 90% of the vote.
Mango gets BRL 350 million back
Even with the proposal rejected, Mango said this Saturday (15) that it had received US$67 million (R$350 million) in various cryptocurrencies. So it’s possible that the hacker found a deal to get the $50 million he wanted.
“$67 million in various cryptocurrencies has been returned to the DAO. Let’s meet on Mango’s Discord Monday at 3:00 PM UTC to discuss how we can fix this mess.”

Finally, it is still unclear how this agreement will be implemented. After all, the project calls itself a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and the vote above shows a broad rejection of the proposal.
some even Suppose that this is an “inside job”, that is, the developers themselves have a connection with the theft.
“‘hack’ or just another inside job.”
