The BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware group launched a campaign to record TVthat’s because, a week after the station was hacked, sensitive data was thrown onto the network.
The ALPHV group posted on their blog about Record TV data breaches on the front page. Along with several other victims, Record 8 leaked confidential files, but the… Hackers promise to leak more sensitive documents soon.
Hackers present Record TV as the second largest TV station in Brazil and the 28th largest in the world.
Ana Hickmann’s Passport and Federal Government Payment Spreadsheet
The group is known for employing triple extortion and using numerous ways to shame its victims into paying the requested amounts in cryptocurrencies.
Record was attacked on 8/10 by the BlackCat hacker group, also known as ALPHV, which demanded US$5,000,000 (R$26 million) to unlock the station’s systems and not leak the stolen information.
Apparently Record didn’t pay the ransom and the group started throwing files onto the network.
Among the leaked files there is the Ana Hickmann’s passportpresenter Nowadaysin addition to lawsuits, federal government payment spreadsheets, and customer spreadsheets.
Hackers Leak Confidential Record TV Data
At the time of writing, the blog listed more than 50 companies that were victims of leaks.
“The companies represented here did not cooperate with us and tried to hide our successful attack on their resources”says the group “Wait here for your confidential databases and documents.”
The leak site has been active since early December 2021 and it is speculated that the total number of victims who paid not to have their data leaked is much higher than twenty.
Usually, victims who pay the ransom do not want to risk being exposed. The ALPHV ransom demands range from BRL 2 million to BRL 30 million, with victims having the option to negotiate a lower amount if they choose to pay the ransom.
Businesses can choose to pay in monero or bitcoin to maintain privacy, but paying in bitcoin adds 15% to the ransom amount.

Of the various documents from Record TV that have been leaked, the passport of presenter Ana Hickmann is the most important.
The documents can be seen below and were censored out of respect for the broadcaster.
In addition to the 8 documents that have been leaked, the group promised to leak faster if the broadcaster does not pay the ransom.
The group also said it is looking for customers to sell Record’s data, “we went looking for the right customers for their data on the darknet”they said.
