Mercedes in F1 criticized for FTX advertising for Brazilian GP

Three days before the Formula 1 race in Brazil, Mercedes finally received criticism from followers after an advertisement about FTX, a brokerage that is going through a bankruptcy crisis.

The Brazilian GP is scheduled for next Sunday (13) in Interlagos, São Paulo. Brazilian fans of the sport are watching a new episode of the Hamilton-Verstappen dispute.

Starting at 15:00 GMT, the world tournament is another tournament that attracts attention due to its relationship with the cryptocurrency market.

Mercedes criticized FTX’s NFT ad

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has a lot to worry about, in addition to the Brazilian GP to be held next Sunday.

That’s because the brand is sponsored by the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, which is insolvent. Although Binance has denied buying the company because the situation is serious, the market is closely monitoring the relationships it has created.

One such relationship is the sponsorship of Mercedes by FTX, which ultimately made the FTX crisis forgotten and released a collection of NFTs.

After the publication of Mercedes, many followers warned the brand about the problems FTX was experiencing, in a Formula 1 pre-race week. Recognizing the criticism, the carmaker has stopped naming its partner, and has yet to comment on whether it could be affected by the sponsor’s collapse.

One of the biggest problems with FTX is still the lack of loot. In other words, if you see Mercedes remembering the brand in an advertisement, it is a danger for new users, who are not aware of the current situation.

Since last week, FTX has been having problems at its company Alameda Research. This Thursday (10), the broker’s CEO also stated that he is still looking for a solution to the situation and asked clients to “trust” his work.

Hamilton honorary Brazilian citizen

With multiple public statements in favor of Brazil, English Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is admired in the country. A seven-time world champion, he remains second in the 2022 edition of the tournament.

And before taking part in another race in Brazil, the driver was honored by the Chamber of Deputies in recent days when he won the title of honorary citizen of the country. In gratitude, he stated that he really likes to come to Brazilian territory, which he is also a fan of.

Despite the problems with the Mercedes sponsor, Hamilton arrives as a favorite for the 50th edition of Formula 1 in Brazil, where he has already become champion and has Ayrton Senna as one of his references in his career.
