Residents of a Brazilian city can now spend their cryptocurrencies to ride an electric scooter, a social currency that can facilitate consumption in shops in the city itself in Santa Catarina.
The measure was finally announced by the Itajaí City Hall, which released the so-called “collective electric scooters” last Tuesday (13).

In the future, the full amount can be paid in Itajaí’s cryptocurrency, AYR, but for now only PIX and credit cards are accepted.
The electric scooter initiative has the support of the City of Itajaí, through the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. In 2021, when AYR was launched, the portfolio secretary, Thiago Morastoni, stated that the city was on the path of sustainability and innovation.
