Twitter has added a new feature. From now on you will see graphs on the platform. All you have to do is add so-called “money tags” when searching for a coin. How does it work exactly?
What are Money Tags?
Everyone knows hashtags (#) that make tags clickable. This made it easy to search for tweets related to specific topics of conversation or events on the platform.
Twitter recognized that currencies, stocks and ETFs are also important topics of conversation and created the concept of “money tags”. These have the same function as hashtags but are developed for tradable products or currencies. For example, cryptocurrencies have long been discussed under money tags such as $BTC (Bitcoin), $ETH (Ethereum), or $DOGE (Dogecoin).

After a new update it is possible to display a graph for multiple box tags. As shown in the tweet below on SPY’s money tag – an ETF that tracks the price of the S&P 500 – a chart pops up when you ask for it.

Currently, this only works for the two largest cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin and Ethereum. But it’s still in development, so the cashtag feature will soon be able to map smaller coins, like Elon Musk’s favorite $DOGE.
Cointelegraph also discovered that there are different variants of Bitcoin. They also checked search terms like “$bitcoin”, “bitcoin price” and “BTC price”, all of which showed the Bitcoin price chart. This trick also worked for Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency.
Why Robin Hood?
Prices that appear after a search appear to come from Tradingview, but also contain a link to the Robin Hood trading platform. It appears that Twitter has partnered with these companies. However, Cointelegraph tells us that nothing has been announced in this regard.
Despite this, this trick still lands users in Robinhood, prompting them to purchase the coin in question. And is this really fair from the transparent company?
