Since January 20, the functionality that allows customers to voluntarily offset the carbon of their flights has been available on the GOL website when buying tickets, all using blockchain technology.
That is, it is now possible to fly with already neutralized CO2. Customers can opt for voluntary carbon offsetting when selecting seats or purchasing baggage for check-in.
The campaign called Meu Voo Compensa is an initiative of Gol in collaboration with Moss, a climate tech that uses blockchain technology.

This is evident from a registered letter to the live coinsGol states that 1 year and 6 months after the launch of the #MeuVooCompensa project (June 2021 to December 2022), 13.1 thousand tons of CO2 were voluntarily neutralized by customers on GOL’s carbon neutral routes (Fernando de Noronha and Bonito) and specific compensation actions.
This amount is equivalent to 1,878,312 trees preserved for one year, or 3,266 hectares of forest preserved per year. In addition, it also represents the maintenance of 3,959 football fields of native nature.
According to Eduardo Bernardes, Vice President of Revenue at GOL, all the efforts have paid off.
“For more than 12 years, GOL has been developing actions to reduce the impact of flights on the environment. With the launch of the #MeuVooCompensa campaign in 2021, we further strengthened our commitment to sustainability, challenging and ensuring that the theme reaches the entire Águias team and, in a groundbreaking way, the customer – and it delivered. The results of the campaign show that the path chosen is long, if promising, and the launch of the new phase of the project reinforces our belief that all the company’s efforts to protect the planet have paid off.”
Gol says service is affordable
Data released by Gol shows that its service could be accessible to customers who want to opt for carbon offsetting on flights.
An example released by the company concerns the stretch of the Rio-São Paulo airlift, where passengers exit Congonhas airport en route to Santos Dumont. In this trajectory, the carbon offset today is only R$2.77, says Gol, indicating that it will be possible to neutralize the emission of 0.03 tonnes of CO2.
Customers can still choose to neutralize only part of the route traveled. In any case, customers will receive a nominal CO2 neutralization certificate from Gol+Moss after using the service.
According to Felipe Sobrinho, GOL’s ESG manager, the novelty in the campaign engages customers in carbon offsetting and environmental care.
“The day-to-day activities of society as a whole invariably impact the environment. Commercial aviation, a vital, fuel-intensive industry, would be no different. This new phase of the #MeuVooCompensa campaign, where the carbon offset is done directly with the purchase of the ticket by Customers, is like a shortcut for people to get involved in the conservation in an even easier, faster and more economical way of nature and of life.”
