The federal police launched a new operation against the leaders of Unick Forex after suspicions of the group’s activities. The warrants will be fulfilled next Tuesday (14) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to information from the PF, dubbed “Operação Templo Alto”, the new search for the leaders is a fragmentation of Lamanai, launched in 2019.
Suspicions relate to a money laundering process that involves subtracting assets from investors who fell into the Unick scam. Such a company operated one of the largest financial pyramid schemes in the cryptocurrency market, with promises of easy and high returns in the market.

While Unick Forex clients are still in agony, the leaders of the old scheme terminated by the PF, after years without recovering their investments, are still in business.
According to the PF, two search and seizure warrants were issued this Tuesday and another preventive arrest warrant against suspects. The searches take place in the town of Caxias do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
In a statement, the federal police said the investigations began as part of Operation Lamanai, whose leaders bought a property with money from their criminal activities.
“The investigation began with the analysis of information obtained in the context of Operation Lamanai and identified that, through the purchase of a rural estate in the municipality of São Marcos/RS, the suspects negotiated BRL 2 million, the illegal origin of the funds, who would have a source in the criminal activities of the group.”
In addition to the searches, the 7th Federal Court of Porto Alegre has also issued court orders for asset blocking in financial assets and judicial kidnapping of those involved.
Unick Forex: High Promise, Low Delivery
Unick Forex traded with the promises of income associated with the Forex and cryptocurrency market in Brazil. Under pressure, it began selling courses and changed its name to Unick Academy, trying to claim its source of income came from the practice.
However, for the PF, everything was just a mechanism to hide the financial pyramid created by the company. With Operation Lamanai, key leaders were arrested by the Federal Police, although many were released after the arrival of Covid-19.
Advertising Aqui, for example, shows that at least 20,000 public complaints from customers show that the company has left a trail of losses. Despite the fact that Unick Forex is headquartered in the south of Brazil, clients from all over the country lost money with unreasonable promises.
With the new operation Templo Alto, the PF has not disclosed the name of the suspect on the target of the arrest warrant.
