The government of El Salvador plans to expand its financial relationship with the US. According to Milena Mayorga, the Salvadoran ambassador, her country will open a “Bitcoin embassy” in the state of Texas.
Speaking to Texas Governor Joe Esparza, Mayorga stated that economic issues and trade exchange were discussed. By all indications, both parties were happy with the collaboration.
This would be El Salvador’s second “Bitcoin Embassy”. The first opened in October 2022 in Lugano, Switzerland, a city also focused on the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

While the International Monetary Fund (IMF) continues to pressure El Salvador to abandon Bitcoin, the small country is showing signs of resilience.
Through her social networks, Milena Mayorga, Ambassador of El Salvador, showed that she is doing the opposite of the IMF’s request. That is, your country will not only not abandon Bitcoin, but also want to take it to other places outside its country.
Speaking to the governor of the state of Texas, the ambassador stated that El Salvador will open its second Bitcoin embassy, now on US soil.
“The state of Texas, our new ally”wrote Milena Mayorga, Salvadoran Ambassador. “When I met with Texas Secretary of State Joe Esparza, we discussed opening the second Bitcoin embassy and expanding commercial and economic exchange projects.”

Afterwards, the ambassador noted that her country and the state of Texas had a commercial relationship worth more than $1.24 billion by 2022. So we can expect Bitcoin to play a role here in the future, if only by a fraction of this total.
Texas is also seeing increasing adoption of Bitcoin
The state of Texas is known for being home to large mining companies and is known for its “friendship” with Bitcoin. In addition to a small town adopting BTC, a Texan university also began teaching classes on the subject.
Therefore, El Salvador’s choice to open its second Bitcoin embassy seems to have been appropriate.
Finally, one of Bitcoin’s oldest advocates also appears in two of the above images posted by El Salvador’s ambassador, including the meeting with Governor Esparza. Through his Twitter, Max Keizer dubbed the city of Austin, the capital of Texas, the “Bitcoin City,” requesting that an airline release a direct route between the two locations.
“We need a direct flight between El Salvador and Austin, Texas. American Air, please!” Keizer wrote. “El Salvador’s economy is BOOMING! And the new embassy means a huge increase in traffic between Bitcoin County and Bitcoin City, Austin!”
