Coinbase sent an email to its entire Brazilian customer base this Wednesday (01) warning that the PIX has been released.

However, to access the novelty, customers must proceed with a new identity verification, even if they have already verified in the past.
As reported that Livecoins had access, Coinbase indicates that it wants to improve the experience of its users.

It is worth remembering that on Coinbase’s own website the option of depositing with PIX is already described as a possibility. In addition to the PIX option, the purchase of cryptocurrencies with a card has also been released for brokerage clients.
EBANX will provide the service, after activation in February 2023
The company EBANX, responsible for providing payment brokerage via PIX to Coinbase, was considered one of the most promising Brazilian fintechs in a 2022 study.
On February 15, 2023, EBANX obtained the PISP (Payment Initiation Service Provider) license issued by the Central Bank of Brazil. Thus, it was able to start offering services as a Pix payment initiator.

In a note to Livecoins, Erika Daguani, Vice President of Product at EBANX, emphasizes that the fintech service reduces friction and increases transaction security.
“The payment initiator streamlines the payment process, reduces friction and increases transaction security: the user no longer has to leave the store’s website or app, log into the bank’s app or worry about copying and pasting the QR code and check if everything is correct . Payment with Pix in digital commerce is much smoother this way. Pix as a payment initiator is yet another example of the Central Bank’s focus on user experience and Pix usability, it is a major step forward for Brazil’s alternative payment industry. We are very happy to offer this service to our customers and promote easy and secure access to real-time payments to millions of users.”
Finally, in addition to Coinbase, EBANX also serves AliExpress, Epic Games, Tencent (Riot Games), Shein, Shopee, Uber, PlayStation, Ubisoft, Deezer, Kwai, and other major global brands.
