Developer accuses Binance of stealing its AI idea

A Web3 and AI developer participating in a Binance contest has publicly accused the exchange of stealing its idea to algorithmically generate NFTs.

The programmer’s outburst came to the public after Binance released the Bicasso, a tool that automatically generates NFTs for users. For example, on March 1, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) shared the news with his millions of followers.

“Here is a nice new Binance AI product called Bicasso. You can turn your creative visions into AI-powered NFTs. Try it and show me what you do with it. Beta version now available, limited to 10,000 mints.”

Artificial intelligence developer called “Chatcasso” accuses Binance of stealing the idea from his company

Despite the success of the novelty presented by Binance, which generates NFTs from user texts, the Chatcasso developer did not like the new solution at all.

This is because, in a public outburst, “ggoma”, an artificial intelligence developer, stated that the exchange took its idea and only refined the solution.

“Keep building” said CZ. What he DID NOT say – “If you guys build it right, we’ll shamelessly copy it and ship it as our product!” Story of Binance stealing our project, we won 1st place in BNB Chain hackathon.

According to the programmer, his Hunt Town team participated in a hackathon at the end of 2022, linked to BNB Chain. On that occasion, they spent several sleepless nights to create a novelty linked to Web3 with artificial intelligence.

By spotlighting Chatcasso, they ended up winning the contest and even getting recognition on the official BNB Chain profile.

“A BNB Chain hackathon was held in Seoul from December 17 to 19, 2022. Our Hunt Town team participated. We put all our energy into building our project, stayed up late and finally took first place in the hackathon.”

Now, with Binance’s launch of “Bicasso”, he accuses the exchange of appropriating third-party products, especially those who present their solutions to the company.

“Binance even copied the name of our product,” says programmer

Initially, “ggoma” said that he and his team members were very happy with the recognition and awards at the Binance event. However, two months later, seeing the brokerage announce the product caused him an intense revolt.

According to the programmer, the broker even copied the name of its program, “Chatcasso”, and launched “Bicasso”.

“A big company like Binance copies everything down to the name? It is not only unethical, but also confusing for users. The names are so similar it’s hard to tell them apart.”

“It is disheartening to see a company that claims to support innovation and development stealing from the same people who work hard to build the ecosystem. Who would feel safe entering a hackathon? I am not.”

At the end of his tirade, the programmer, who tagged Binance’s CEO in his publication but received no comment, said that all tool makers should keep working for the market. However, they should issue a warning to companies that take advantage of the hard work of others.

The Chatcasso programmer remembers winning 5,000 BUSD as a reward. Moreover, in the hackathon participation contract, there were no rules leaving the products to Binance, and he even revised the participation rules.

Publicly, Binance has not commented on the matter, nor has the CEO quoted in the angry programmer’s publications.
