Through his social networks, tycoon Yuri Boytsov claimed that he committed a heist at the end of February, during which he lost R$1.5 million in cryptocurrencies. The Russian shows footage from his home’s security system and points out that one of the criminals was dressed as a police officer.
The case took place on Bali, an island in Indonesia. However, the victim claims that only one of the criminals spoke Indonesian, as the other three persons are said to be Russian just like him.
In addition to the money, Boytsov claims that the bandits not only took his passport, but also threatened to kill him.

As shown in the security footage, four men approached Yuri Boytsov at his home in Bali, Indonesia. By claiming that the tycoon had defrauded someone, the bandits allegedly demanded money from the victim.
Boytsov refused to hand over the requested amount and was subsequently beaten, forcing him to make the transfer. According to local media, the Russian sent R$1.3 million in Tether (USDT) to the criminals. His girlfriend stole another 34,399 USDT (R$180,000).
In addition, two other smaller transactions, of $ 5 and $ 10, can serve as evidence in the case.
“Video from surveillance cameras. I ask the dear people of Indonesia to help me spread this and help with the outreach.”wrote Yuri Boytsov, tagging famous Balinese profiles.

The Russian then points out that thanks to the images, one of the criminals was detained at the airport while trying to catch a flight to Dubai the day after the criminal action (26/02).
Later Boytsov released another video, this time at the police station. Midway through the shot, it is possible to see an enraged man kicking the coffee table. According to the Russian, this man was supposed to be one of the criminals, but he was released like everyone else.
“This video was filmed by me in the police station. I received death threats from one of the criminals. The author was not arrested, after long negotiations they were all released.”
Who is Yuri Boytsov, Russian who had his cryptocurrencies stolen in Bali
According to his own social networks, Yuri Boytsov describes himself as a blogger. In his biography he quotes a well-known quote from the American investor Warren Buffett.
“If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”

Already in a publication, the Russian says that his dreams were scorned, but that he managed to take a company from zero to a million. “I saw an opportunity in cryptocurrency arbitrage and built a $1 million a day team”, wrote Russian. Therefore, its exposure may have caught the attention of criminals.
While cryptocurrency theft is often committed online, Boytsov’s case shows that a new trend is worrying these investors.
For example, last month an entrepreneur lost BRL 20.8 million in cryptocurrencies during a personal hack in Italy.
