Right-hand man of the world’s most wanted cryptocurrency scammer is being extradited to the US

Irina Dilkinska, Bulgarian responsible for the legal part of the OneCoin pyramid, was extradited this Monday (20) to the US, where she will be tried for two crimes.

The right-hand man of Ruja Ignatova, the FBI’s most wanted woman, Dilkinska is said to have not only helped orchestrate the scheme responsible for losses of more than $4 billion, but also allegedly laundered $400 million for OneCoin.

Although the scheme was based in Bulgaria, the scam is believed to have affected investors from other countries, including Americans.

The US arrests OneCoin’s Irina Dilkinska

According to a statement from the Justice Department, 41-year-old Irina Dilkinska has been extradited to the US and will face charges of fraud and money laundering. The maximum sentence can be up to 40 years in prison.

“OneCoin, which launched in 2014 and is headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, marketed and sold a fraudulent cryptocurrency of the same name through a global multi-level marketing (“MLM”) network”points out the Ministry of Justice. “Due to misrepresentations about OneCoin, victims from various countries have invested more than $4 billion in the fraudulent cryptocurrency.”

“Dilkinska was extradited from Bulgaria yesterday and will appear before US Magistrate Sarah Netburn later today.”

In addition to the $4 billion OneCoin cryptocurrency scam, Dilkinska will also be charged with laundering $400 million while serving as the company’s chief legal officer.

“Dilkinska was the alleged head of legal affairs and compliance for OneCoin, but instead of making sure OneCoin complied with the law, Dilkinska helped set up and manage shell companies to launder OneCoin funds and hold properties owned by are from [Ruja] Ignatova.”

OneCoin Leader, FBI’s Most Wanted Woman, Still on the Run

Although Irina Dilkinska was arrested, the US is still after Ruja Ignatova. According to the FBI, the leader of OneCoin, also known as Cryptoqueen (Queen of Cryptocurrencies), is the most wanted woman in the US.
