The MP-Procon of Paraíba received a total of 3.3 thousand complaints from former investors of Braiscompany, during the period that it kept a public form available for the injured party of the Campina Grande company.
In a note, the public consumer protection agency indicated that contracts with customers exceed R$258 million. With the note published last Tuesday (11), the MP-Procon makes it clear that it is entering a new phase in the investigation of the case.
The new phase focuses on qualitatively analyzing the data of the company’s clients, which promised huge profits associated with cryptocurrencies. In addition, information obtained through a civil enquiry should be used in the following stages.
MP-Procon should take legal action against Braiscompany after complaints
The ministerial body hopes to collect information in the new procedural phase with the newly received complaints. Thus, new precautions are expected to be taken in addition to those currently being considered in court.
The prosecutor, Romualdo Tadeu de Araújo Dias, director of MP-Procon, explained that a quantitative balance of the completed forms has been made, which even shows surprising figures on the performance of the company that traded cryptocurrencies.
A qualitative analysis of the information and documentation available to the MPPB is now being carried out, according to the public prosecutor.
“We are exploring the possibility of new efforts, as well as the need to take other judicial action in the civil field, and demand the recognition of irregularities of a consumerist nature and possible harm to the community.”
Still according to information passed on by MP-Procon, of the people who communicated the number of signed contracts with Braiscompany, 1,713 said they had only one (corresponding to 51% of the total).
However, there were consumers who reported having made more than one transaction with the company. Among others, 852 indicated to have two contracts (25.5%); 343 said they had three contracts (10.4%); 164, four (4.9%); and 96 plaintiffs said they had five contracts (2.9%).
Braiscompany’s cryptocurrency pyramid devastated families in Campina Grande
The case investigated by MP-Procon started in February 2023, when a civil inquiry was opened, after several complaints. Everything indicates that there are thousands of families from Campina Grande with losses in the scheme, which has raised funds in several cities in Brazil.
During its years of operation, Braiscompany offered cryptocurrency leasing services to customers, but the contracts did not allow withdrawals at any point. So when the company collapsed, many customers still had resources with the company’s leaders.
When the PF’s Operation Halving brought down the financial pyramid and ordered its operations to stop, many were surprised by the lies exposed. Among them is that the company did not have an account on Binance while claiming to have funds on the platform.
Antônio Neto and Fabrícia Ais, the couple who founded the company, remain on the run, not helping customers in agony.
