Entitled “Bitcoin Policy UK,” the first political organization to focus solely on bitcoin was born in the United Kingdom, with the intention of promoting the development of digital currencies in the country. According to the organization’s leaders, one of its objectives is to promote the debate on the adoption of technology as an improvement in citizens’ lives.
Considered the first bitcoin political organization in the world, its founding announcement took place last Thursday (13). Thus, the novelty quickly reverberated, with reports even from Forbes citing the event.

What drew attention to the new proposal is that bitcoin has no legal defenders, as it remains a decentralized currency. As a result, there is no marketing or legal team dealing with digital currency issues and barriers that states are imposing on the use of technology.
Still, the political discussion about the currency promises to reach new goals and promote adoption.
Bitcoin political organization in the UK wants to attract jobs to the country
In a press release during the launch, “Bitcoin Policy UK” stated that there is a unique opportunity for bitcoin’s global adoption.
So the aim is to help attract investment to the UK, create jobs and stimulate new industries. Just using wasted and idle energy in the country can be profitable, the organization emphasizes.
The new bitcoin policy advocacy arm was established following a conference focused on the digital currency ecosystem in Edinburgh. The organizers are part of The Bitcoin Collective and inspired the birth of the new organization.
One of the founders of the initiative, Krista Edmunds, recalls that the UK can be ahead of other countries and says she was inspired by El Salvador.
“The UK has a huge opportunity to become one of the first jurisdictions in the world to adopt Bitcoin. We’ve seen what’s possible in El Salvador, which is making huge gains thanks to its innovative approach to Bitcoin. The UK can achieve a similar competitive advantage and we look forward to supporting the British people in making this happen.”
Organization wants to participate in CBDC debates with the government
As well as being born with the focus of only discussing bitcoin and ignoring other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin Policy UK makes it clear that its intent is to help the UK government think about CBDC.
Central bank digital currencies are getting attention in several countries. In the United Kingdom, for example, there is talk of creating a digital version of the pound sterling.
To enable the organization to achieve its goals, it relies only on community donations, which can be sent to a page, which still only accepts payment by credit card.
