Research: Nearly half of millennials in populous countries own crypto

Research shows that nearly half of millennials in countries with large populations own crypto. You could think of countries like the United States, China, Japan, Germany, Indonesia and Nigeria. This is evident from Bitget’s research.

10,000 respondents

The survey took place between July 2022 and January 2023 and involved approximately 255,000 adult respondents from 26 countries, according to the Cointelegraph website. Each country group included approximately 10,000 respondents. The researchers found that 46% of millennials own cryptocurrencies, while only 25% of Gen X respondents, 21% of Gen Z respondents, and 8% of baby boomers own cryptocurrencies. The confidence interval of the study was 95% with an error rate of ±0.1%.

The survey also found that 4% of Baby Boomers, 6% of Gen Xers, 27% of Millennials, and 36% of Gen Z view cryptocurrency regulation as an important factor in choosing political candidates. It was written: “At the start of the next decade, demographics could lead to a dramatic shift towards greater adoption of cryptocurrencies. This is because a higher proportion of younger generations continue to show strong demand for cryptocurrencies, despite slowing population growth.”

Most popular cryptocurrencies among Gen Z and millennials

In addition to this research, other studies also suggest that cryptocurrency adoption rates are generally higher among Gen Z and Millennials than other demographics. A survey conducted by Charles Schwab in October 2022 found that nearly half of Gen Z and millennial respondents want to add cryptocurrencies to their retirement plans. Additionally, the survey found that 43% of Gen Z and 47% of Millennials are already investing in cryptocurrencies outside of their retirement plans.

Together, these results suggest that cryptocurrencies are gaining acceptance among younger generations and that this trend may continue in the future. As a result, cryptocurrency regulation could become an increasingly important political issue.
