LATAM opens NFT exhibition in Guarulhos

LATAM has just opened a new space to provide opportunities for Brazilian talent and generate social impact. For a year, the company will exhibit in its lounge at the airport of Guarulhos (São Paulo) the digital arts, the NFTs, developed through the SocialCrypto.art program, which raises money for the community of Morro Santo Amaro, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

The first works on display are by the artists Talita Persi, Gean Guilherme and Herbert Amorim.

This is the first digital arts program with a social purpose promoted by an airline in the world.

Airline vice president LATAM says disclosure of NFTs promotes diversity and inclusion

All works on display at LATAM Lounge Guarulhos come with a certificate of authenticity using blockchain via NFTs, the acronym for Non-Fungible Token.

The new format, directly linked to the emergence of cryptocurrencies, is a technology capable of converting any type of digital media (files, images, publications, codes, among others) into an item of unique value, which can be purchased virtually , making a certificate own digital.

Every four months the exhibition is renewed with the work of three more artists nominated by SocialCrypto.art. To purchase any of the works featuring cryptocurrencies, passengers must access the program’s purchasing platform directly, available through the QR code attached to each of the screens.

According to Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group, the airline is reflecting on how to promote diversity and inclusion, with the NFTs being an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to Brazil.

“Every day we think about how we can use our voice and space at LATAM to help more people and promote diversity and inclusion. This is how we brought the creativity of Brazilian chefs to the planes and how we are now innovating with the digital work of these artists in our lounge in Guarulhos. When we provide more opportunities for these talents, we generate social impact and strengthen our commitment to Brazil.”

Virtual Gallery tries to show NFTs as a tool for social purposes

SocialCrypto.art is a virtual gallery that aims to raise awareness of the potential of NFTs as a tool for social use. Moreover, it offers people a unique opportunity to acquire authentic digital artworks.

Through the use of NFT technology, SocialCrypto.art sends money to social projects in the favela and contributes to social impact. It is an initiative that combines art, technology and social responsibility, creating new opportunities to promote good and valued culture and community.

And Gean Guilherme, a resident of Morro Santo Amaro, was the pioneer responsible for using NFT work for social purposes in Brazil.

“The initiative emerged during the pandemic, when the favela was in a delicate moment. Many people lost their jobs and famine was imminent. It was in this scenario that I built the project, a work that brought together everything I learned about NFT, cryptocurrencies and social impact. I made art available, people started buying and donating, and SocialCrypto.art was born.”

Arts in partnership with LATAM Airlines can be found through the official website in partnership with SocialCrypto.
