The STF has released three of the four that have been summoned by the CPI of the financial pyramids to appear in their testimonials, namely the Sheikh of Bitcoins, Tata Werneck and Cauã Reymond.
According to a report by Agência Câmara de Notícias, the CPI das Americanas also suffers from the same problem, as those called to testify appeal to the Supreme Court seeking habeas corpus.
In the case of the Financial Pyramids CPI, the actors Cauã Reymond and Tata Werneck were absent from their testimonies scheduled for last Tuesday (15), after the STF released both with a safe conduct.
The presence of court decisions in these CPIs then added a new and complex layer of challenges to the search for crucial clarifications about the activities of the financial pyramids and the tax fraud allegations associated with the Americanas. This is because the interruption of testimony generates uncertainties regarding the struggle to obtain information for ongoing investigations.
Cryptocurrency Financial Pyramids CPI Will Fight To Clear Facts Says Deputy After Lack Of Global Actors For Testimony
The CPI that investigates fraud in financial pyramid schemes featured the testimony of actors Tata Werneck and Cauã Reymond, who carried out advertising campaigns for Atlas Quantum.
The company, which used Bitcoins in financial transactions, harmed customers with BRL 2 billion. Without operating in Brazil since 2019, following the CVM’s stop order, the company has never released withdrawals to clients and its main partner remains at large.
Supported by a writ of habeas corpus from the STF, the artists did not attend the meeting. Both Cauã Reymond and Tata Werneck form the cast of the current telenovela Terra e Paixão on Rede Globo.
CPI Chairman Deputy Aureo Ribeiro (SD-RJ) said the commission will make every effort to identify and punish those responsible for the fraud.
“We cannot allow such behavior to be treated as something casual and normal. Pyramids use famous people to lend credence to the lies they spread. People stop accessing this content, believing it to be something serious and truly profitable as it follows the lives of these artists and nothing seems to go wrong. The importance of testimonials from people who participated in the marketing of these pyramids is in knowing who was behind the companies and trying to recover the assets. We will do everything we can and break anyone’s secret to give an answer to all these 200,000 families.
This CPI is open to the two artists, if they do not want to cooperate with the investigation and punish those responsible for such damage to good citizens. I would like it to be registered in the name of this house and about 200,000 people be harmed by Atlas Quantum. Unfortunately supported by the decision of the highest federal court, we will not have the cooperation of two celebrities who led thousands of Brazilians to fall into a coup d’état and lost their investments, jobs of a lifetime, dreams interrupted, people who destroyed houses, cars, stopped being able to pay for a school for a son, who stopped caring for his mother, his father, because of the irresponsibility and lack of character of these artists, who are not available even today to the Brazilian clarifying to people how this fraud was committed, how they received it, who they received it from, or if they have no interest in that business as it is protected by the HC of the Federal Supreme Court. Unfortunately, we still have to live with this uncertainty, but we will take all necessary measures to find out that these kinds of crimes do not go unpunished in our country.”
Even violating the secrecy of suspects involved in the financial pyramid is not excluded.
Atlas Quantum partners also have no testimonial
Another artist who was summoned by the CPI of the Financial Pyramids is presenter Marcelo Tas, who asked to testify on Wednesday (16). For example, he is heard in the Chamber of Deputies and has to say what his participation in Atlas Quantum was, a company of which he also says he is a victim.
But the main ones expected by the CPI were partners Rodrigo Marques and Fabrício Sanfelice, who, even called up, also missed. Atlas Quantum’s legal department was also absent.
Deputy Paulo Bilynskyj (PL-SP) said he was disappointed with the lack of artists in the testimony, and hopes to provide an answer to the families who were victims of the coup, which he estimated at 8 billion reais.
