Worldcoins adoption is exploding in Argentina

Considered one of the countries with the highest adoption of cryptocurrencies in Latin America, Argentina is now seeing a new wave of interest in Worldcoin, the cryptocurrency from ChatGPT creator Sam Altman.

The project registered an average of one Argentinian every 9 seconds and in just one day there were 9,500 new registrations, a record in the country.

The new wave of adoption leads to Argentines earning cryptocurrencies as a reward, in return providing personal information through their eye irises.

World record for registrations in one day: Argentina sees increasing interest in cryptocurrency from the creator of ChatGPT

According to Worldcoin, Argentina cemented its high interest in the cryptocurrency market last August by registering 9,500 people on its platform in a single day.

This is the largest record ever achieved by the new project from the creator of ChatGPT, which has worldwide suspicions about your privacy.

During his Ethereum Argentina talk on the Mainnet Stage on Friday, August 18, Alex Blania, co-founder of the Worldcoin project and CEO of Tools for Humanity, was asked specifically about Argentina and his response was positive to innovative projects.

I think the first important thing to note is that Argentina specifically is one of the most crypto countries in the world.”, said Blania. “People are much more sensitive and understand the fundamental principles of cryptocurrencies much better. It is a combination of a technologically advanced country in general and also a crypto country in particular, making it an explosive terrain for the next wave of innovation in this field.

Worldcoin Orbs are available in four cities in Argentina, namely Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Córdoba and Mendoza.

Worldcoin is trying to defend itself as a ‘private’ project

Since its launch, Worldcoin has faced a major crisis with privacy regulators in several countries. In Argentina itself, research was even carried out into the effect of the iris scanning of the local population.

But in its August 31, 2023 publication, in which it comments on the great interest of the Argentine people in its cryptocurrency, Worldcoin tried to defend that its project is private.

“In addition to its privacy-preserving features, World ID plays an important role in Worldcoin’s mission to increase access to the global economy and serve the more than 4 billion people around the world who lack legal and digitally identifiable identities. Verifiable.”

In any case, the project is still being researched in several countries, investigating the company’s equipment and practices in retaining customer data.
