Historic process will confirm or unmask the man who claims to be the creator of Bitcoin

Between February 5 and March 15, courts in England will analyze a case that could determine the identity of Bitcoin’s creator. On one side of the process are the COPA (Crypto Open Patent Alliance)formed by the founder of Twitter and other famous people, on the other hand, it is Craig Steven Wrighta man who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

The dispute between the two parties has been going on for some time. COPA, founded in 2021 “helps developers [do Bitcoin] find and hire attorneys, develop litigation strategies, and pay your legal bills..

The nonprofit was formed after Craig Wright sued several industry players, including developers. Moving on, one of the most famous cases was a CSW lawsuit against the website Bitcoin.org, forcing its administrator to remove the Bitcoin whitepaper for download.

Later, Wright also sued cryptocurrency exchanges. The Australian also claims that Bitcoin (BTC) is not Bitcoin and that these companies are misleading their customers. In other words, he claims that Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) is the real Bitcoin.

The trial, scheduled for February, aims to analyze the identity

Although much of the community believes Craig Wright is a clown, many Bitcoin developers do not have to incur legal fees to defend themselves against their accusations. Therefore, COPA opted for a different strategy, casting doubt on Wright’s allegations.

COPA is made up of Jack Dorsey’s Block and Spiral and also has the backing of brokerage Coinbase, Blockstream and other industry giants.

The case against CSW will be long and will start orally on February 5. In the following days, interrogations will take place, which will cover a large part of the case that aims to definitively prove that Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin. The full schedule is as follows:

Date Activities Duration
February 5 Opening 1 day
February 6 to 9 Wright interrogation 6 days
February 12 to 13 Continuing Wright’s interrogation 6 days
February 14 to 16 Cross-examination of Wright’s key witnesses 3.5 days
February 19 to 23 Interrogation of COPA witnesses/developers 4 days
February 23 to March 1 Interrogation of digital forensic experts 5 days
March 1 Surveying cryptocurrency experts 0.5 day
March 12 to 15 Closing 4 days

Although the COPA lawsuit appears to be an attack on Craig Wright, the association’s action is actually a defense mechanism. In short, they want developers and other players to stop being sued by Wright in the future.

Craig Wright complains on Twitter while quoting Satoshi Nakamoto

On social media, Craig Wright continues to try to make noise days before his trial. In tweets published last Saturday (13), he again claims to be the creator of Bitcoin and that the current developers stole his code and modified it without permission.

“I invented Bitcoin and revealed it to the world. However, at BTC they broke it up”Wright began. “Certain individuals, second-hand, smugly exercised the right to change something they neither originated nor could replicate.”

“The ONLY unwavering condition I placed on my creation of Bitcoin was that it would remain exactly as I designed it.”

As always, his statements were met with criticism. One investor said he doesn’t believe Wright and needs to provide proof. In response, the Australian quoted an iconic line from Satoshi Nakamoto as if it were his own.

‘If you don’t believe me or don’t understand, I don’t have time to convince you. I’m sorry.’

Finally, COPA’s lawsuit against Wright could finally put an end to this dispute by proving that he is not the creator of Bitcoin. However, it is hard to believe that Wright will give up as he is known for his numerous court appearances.
