Hackers sold death certificates in exchange for cryptocurrencies, MPSP says

A criminal organization consisting of three hackers was formally accused of breaking into the systems of government agencies and selling confidential data about Brazilians. The complaint, filed by prosecutor Fernando Rodrigo Garcia Felipe de São José do Rio Preto, was accepted on January 17. One of those involved will be prosecuted for possession of child pornography.

Investigation revealed that the suspects, residents of the states of São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso, operated in the interior of São Paulo with the help of two teenagers from Bady Bassitt.

The schedule consisted of sale of logins that gave access to the platforms of police institutions, with prices ranging from R$200 to R$1,000. According to the MPSP, transactions were carried out using cryptocurrencies.

Group stole FGTS from employees who did not receive the benefits

The MPSP also accuses the group of tampering with Covid-19 vaccine data and issue false death certificates. In addition, they sold credit card information.

One of the members managed to bypass a company’s food stamp credit management system by selling accounts that allowed discounted purchases through food delivery apps.

Hackers also compromised the CAIXA Tem application, from Caixa Econômica Federal, allowing the improper redemption of FGTS by employees who had not received the benefit.

Visual recognition systems of the São Paulo civil and military police and logins to access the website of the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office were also compromised.
