Ministry of Defense contracts blockchain and IPFS service as a strategic defense product

THE Brazilian Ministry of Defenseby signing the Minister José Múcio Monteiro Filhocontracted new services such as Strategic Defense Products (PED), including a solution in blockchain.

Another that attracts attention is a solution where smart contractswhich shows that the Brazilian defense has already paid attention to the importance of reliable data. This is because several governments have been dealing with cyber issues and blockchain can be a way to reduce threats to trust in documents.

The third service contract from the Ministry of Defense that catches the eye concerns a solution with IPFSdistributed file storage system.

According to a survey by Livecoins, the new employee looked for a company with offices in Florianópolis (SC) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ) to offer the three services.

According to information in Regulation GM-MD No. 5,574 of December 5, 2024, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, new hires comply with Brazilian regulations. Due to the contracting as a Strategic Defense Product, the Annex to Regulation No. 1.345/MD of 2014 is amended and the new items are added.

One of the solutions is to Everblock – Registration and Secure Storage (IPFS)which, according to the report, wants to guarantee the immutability of information. The company responsible for its creation makes it clear that it is a form of “decentralized storage of documents, smart contracts, validation and guaranteeing the immutability of information”.

Another PED hired by Defense Secretary José Múcio concerns the Professional services – Technical services specialized in Blockchain. At this point, it is not entirely clear what may emerge in the future as a defense mechanism in Brazil involving technology.

Finally, the third and final contract analyzed by Livecoins is that of the tool Smartzation – Smart contract audit. According to supplier TS4, the tool validates smart contracts on blockchain, also guaranteeing the trust and security of transactions.
