In the tax reform, a 3% surcharge on the country’s hydroelectric power plants in what has to do with the additional income tax would be included in the final document.
This was confirmed by Conservative Party senator Efraín Cepeda, who stated that this proposal was made “to ensure that this sector, which makes significant profits, brings additional revenues that benefit Colombians.”
“They have refused to cut energy rates that have hit Colombia very hard with a 25% increase, and the Caribbean coast with a 45% increase. I believe that these resources should also be allocated to the electricity sector in order to limit energy increases,” explains Cepeda.
Government and congressmen are finalizing the text of the tax reform bill, which will be submitted to Congress for approval in the first debate this Wednesday.
