Detect if your 50,000 note is counterfeit with these easy steps

Many criminals have taken steps to make their operation formats more sophisticated, and it is precisely the high-denomination notes that they target most for the development of their traps, due to their purchasing power in the market.

More precisely, the $50,000 note, depicting Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez, is the second-highest note, surpassed only by the $100,000 note, which features Carlos Lleras Restrepo.

This new family banknote has been in circulation since 2016. In order to recognize its authenticity, a number of important aspects must be taken into account:

  • Faux paper is thicker than traditional paper, so it should feel a little softer.
  • The holograms that the paper has should change color depending on the angle of the light.
  • The traces of Gabo’s image must be perfectly appreciated, with its curves, expression lines and wrinkles.
