Magdalena is the department with the highest accident rate

This is apparent from a report on the behavior of the accidents at work in the country, prepared by the Colombian Security Council’s (CCS) Observatory for Safety and Health.

After Magdalena, Caldas and Meta have the second and third highest percentages in the country with 3.10 and 2.97 respectively. On the other hand Vaupes and Amazon registered the lowest rate with 0.80 accidents per 100 employees.

In the case of Bogotá, it appears that it reported the highest number of work-related accidents with 74,076 events, followed by Antioch with 55,624 cases; so that together they represent 51.7% of all reported accidents.

Nationally, there were 251,023 accidents at work in the first half of this year, a figure equivalent to a six-monthly rate of 2.20 accidents for every 100 employees. This compared to 2021 (2.31) and 2019 (2.92).

The results of the report indicate that between January and July 2022, 1,395 accidents at work on average per day.
