They sign a commitment to the integration of the migrant population

The Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (Asobancaria), together with USAID, has launched the Opportunities without Borders program, which aims to increase the participation of the migrant population and host communities in the country’s formal economy.

The initiative aims to work closely with the public and private sectors to strengthen their capacities, take advantage of private sector investment and promote a regulatory environment conducive to economic integration.

According to USAID, the private sector’s commitment to the social and economic integration of migrants and Colombians is essential to fulfilling the purpose of Oportunidades Sin Fronteras, which is why the program invites the most important and recognized private sector actors to express their commitment to create economic opportunities for the migrant and the Colombian population.

“We signed this pledge as part of our financial inclusion efforts for migrants. Last year, we launched and distributed the document on “Guidelines for the Approval of the Permit of Temporary Protection of Venezuelans (PPT) in the Colombian Financial System,” said Andrés Rojas, Vice President of Corporate Affairs of the Association.

He added that this is essential to bring banking closer to all people living in Colombia and to create opportunities for them from there.

In the context of signing the agreement, they discussed the role of local authorities in the economic integration of migrants and best practices for economic integration in the private sector.
