The furniture and appliances bonus continues to apply this year and into 2024, although the maximum spending threshold for furniture or major appliances purchases varies depending on the year the purchases were made. Who can benefit? And how to get incentives? Let’s go in order. The furniture bonus is a 50% tax rebate on the purchase of furniture and large appliances available to anyone wishing to furnish a property subject to heritage salvage interventions. Regardless of the amount of expenditures made for the recovery of the building heritage, a maximum of 50 percent Irpef deduction will be calculated, including 10 thousand euros for purchases made in 2022, 8 thousand euros for 2023 and 5 thousand euros for 2024.
The deduction is divided into ten equal annual installments among the beneficiaries. In order to benefit from the bonus, you must specify the expenses in your tax return. The facilitation is only available to the taxpayer who also benefits from the deduction for the costs of restoring the building heritage. For example, if one of the spouses covers only the renovation costs of the house and the furnishing costs of the other, the bonus for the purchase of furniture and household goods does not belong to any of the spouses. Even if the taxpayer chooses to roll over the credit or use the discount option on the invoice, you are still eligible for the furniture and appliances bonus.
To receive the mobile bonus, payments must be made by bank transfer or debit or credit card. Payments cannot be made by check, cash or other payment methods. The discount is allowed even if the goods are purchased on credit, provided that the lending company pays the amount as stated above and a copy of the payment receipt is available to the taxpayer. In order to benefit from the furniture bonus, purchases can be made until 31 December 2024. The law does not envisage any time limitation in the process from the execution of the works to the receipt of the goods. However, the deduction is made provided that the interventions for the recovery of the building heritage have started as of January 1 of the year preceding the purchase date.
And for what purchases is it recognized? Bonus includes spending on buying new furniture such as beds, wardrobes, dressers, bookshelves, desks, tables, chairs, nightstands, sofas, armchairs, sideboards, mattresses, lighting fixtures. However, the purchase of doors, flooring, curtains and curtains or other furniture accessories is excluded. The discount also applies to the purchase of new appliances of energy class not lower than class A for ovens, class E for washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers, class F for refrigerators and freezers, as indicated on the energy class label. In any case, the purchase is facilitated for household appliances without a label, provided that they have not yet come under obligation.
Major household appliances include: refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers and dryers, dishwashers, cooking appliances, electric cookers, microwave ovens, electric cookers, electric heating appliances, electric radiators, electric fans, air conditioners. Boiler replacement is part of “extraordinary maintenance” interventions: energy savings must be achieved compared to the current situation.
