07:20 Parent company Thuisbezorgd withdraws from Norway and Portugal –

Just Eat Takeaway, the parent company of home delivery, will no longer deliver in Norway and Portugal from 1 April. When the Dutch company lowered its annual figures on Wednesday, it reported disappointing results in those countries. The total turnover of Just Eat Takeaway in 2021 will be 5.3 billion euros. The loss amounts to approximately 1 billion euros.

According to the food delivery company, the decision to no longer have a presence in Norway and Portugal had little impact on the company’s results. The company lost 10 million euros annually in these countries and received almost no orders.

With a total presence in 25 countries, Just Eat Takeaway had a turnover of 5.3 billion euros last year, but the company has yet to make a profit. Losses reached 1 billion euros in 2021, compared to 151 million a year ago. According to the report, more money flowed into acquisitions such as Grubhub or Bistro.sk, but there were also costs associated with previous acquisitions.

But CEO JItse Groen thinks the Dutch company will quickly become profitable. He does not give a specific timetable, but mentions in his annual report a “rapid evolution towards profitability”. With fewer investments needed, the company says the company will soon be out of danger.
