Gas, Giancarlo Giorgetti: the price will fall by 40% in February

The price of gas will go down. Already from the first days of February. The forecast is from the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti who, starting in the next few days, predicts a decisive cut in energy costs. Regarding gas, “I don’t want to say things that might not happen, but I believe that, in early February, the new tariffs will be around 40% lower than the previous ones. This is already significant.” Thus the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, at the act organized by the League in view of the regional elections in Lombardy in support of Attilio Fontana, at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan.

Falling gas bills help businesses and families forced to deal with out-of-control energy costs. That’s what Coldiretti says about the possible drop in gas prices of around 40%, hypothesized by the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, since the beginning of February. Energy expenditure has a double negative effect because, underlines Coldiretti, it reduces the purchasing power of citizens and families, but it also increases the costs of companies, especially relevant for the agri-food sector in winter. The cost of energy, continues Coldiretti, is reflected, in fact, throughout the supply chain and concerns both agricultural activities, but also the transformation and distribution of food. Agricultural and food production in Italy absorbs more than 11% of total industrial energy consumption for around 13.3 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) per year, according to Coldiretti’s analysis based on Enea data.
