JetSMART wants to buy Viva Air

It has a firm order for Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, which will see it have more than 124 aircraft by 2029, and it currently operates 79 routes in seven South American countries and in Colombia, where it has been operating since late 2019, with flights Unpleasant Bogotá, Cali and Medellin.

The airline has carried more than 16 million passengers, demonstrating the efficiency and sustainability of its ultra-low-cost model, knowing the market and users’ expectations of efficient service at low prices.

Estuardo Ortíz, CEO of the airline, said that any integration between JetSMART and Viva Air would be the option with the best conditions for the market, as the airlines do not have common routes in Colombia and both have new fleets of Airbus A320neo.

“We believe that a transaction between JetSMART and Viva Air will allow us to maintain the ultra-low-cost model in Colombia and allow us to offer more routes at lower prices. We have a long-term vision to expand in South America and we are able to continue to invest in our growth. We believe in the potential of the Colombian market. Our alternative will benefit users, enhance free competition in the sector and promote tourism and connectivity in the country,” he said.

“At JetSMART, we have the experience, capabilities and resources to execute this transaction and we look forward to moving forward quickly and effectively,” he said.
