The price of diesel is now again lower than gasoline. It’s no small change for the many drivers who choose diesel precisely to save fuel when purchasing their cars and instead find themselves paying more for months than those who choose green; Due to the fact that diesel engines are generally more economical.
But now, for the first time since August, diesel is once again cheaper than gasoline. The trend change observed in many factories in recent days is also included in the average price lists applied (below).
So why has the price of diesel fuel been higher all these months? There are several reasons for this: the energy crisis that has been going on for some time and then exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, the decline in global supply, the scarce ability to refine this fuel, but above all its more widespread use. from diesel to gasoline. While green is primarily used to propel private cars, diesel has many more applications: in addition to trucking, cargo and public transport travel, it is also used for generators needed to generate energy in many factories.
Diesel excise taxes are lower
However, the fact that diesel generally costs less than gasoline is only true when we consider the price of the final product, including SCT. The cost of diesel on the market excluding taxes is actually higher than the green one. In other words, gasoline would cost less than diesel if no more taxes were imposed. Therefore, paying less for diesel is an arbitrary choice and is becoming outdated, especially given that this fuel is now being accused of polluting the environment.
