Cartagena will host the fourth edition of the Finance in Common Summit (FICS) of the Global Network of Public Development Banks, an event that will take place in Latin America for the first time,
The international meeting will take place from September 4 to 6, 2023 at the Congress Center of the City of Cartagena de la Indias, with the support of the FICS Secretariat General and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and will host Bancóldex, the business development bank of Colombia, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Latin American Association of Financial Institutions for Development (ALIDE).
The summit aims to strengthen coordination and cooperation among public development banks to promote sustainable development and align financial flows with the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Delegates from public development banks from around the world will participate to exchange and propose new mechanisms to mobilize resources in a sustainable way.
This summit brings together more than 520 public development banks from around the world, which fund approximately 12% of total global investment each year.
Participants will discuss ways to strengthen their commitment to guiding their sustainability strategies and provide greater visibility to global policy forums regarding the challenges faced by public development banks.
Members of the Finance in Common network include multilateral development banks, regional associations of development finance institutions, the International Development Finance Club, international organisations, regulators, civil society organisations, local stakeholders and the private sector.
At the summit, which will include academic exchanges as well as discussions on the latest innovations in financing for development and approaches to solving pressing development challenges, Bancóldex will highlight its micro, small and medium enterprise development strategy and its role as a facilitator. of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with extensive financial and non-financial instruments in Colombia.
Previous FICS editions took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast (2022), Rome (2021) and Paris (2020).
