The price of gasoline will increase by up to $400 in March

The new increase that the price of current gasoline will have in March is up to $400 and in the case of Barranquilla, the increase was $397.

The new increase that the price of current gasoline will have in March is up to $400 for the national average, and in the case of Barranquilla, the increase was $397.

For example, the price of a gallon of regular gasoline nationally averages $10,766 as of Wednesday, March 1, and $10,846 in Barranquilla.

In this way, the path of increases that the national government embarked on in September last year will continue and that already amounts to $ 1,650. Gasoline prices rose $600 in the last quarter of 2022, $400 in January this year, and $250 in February.

For its part, the ACPM price is not being adjusted and remains at $9,065 per gallon.

It should be noted that the price of a gallon of gasoline for February in the city of Barranquilla was $10,449, with an increase of $250.

The retail value of regular gasoline in the country’s various cities averaged $10,399 per gallon during the month of February.

The increase in the price of regular gasoline is intended to reduce the fiscal impact of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC) on the national government due to the dynamics of international prices for refined products, which have increased due to international factors such as the price of oil and the level of global risk that affected the exchange rate in the country.

The national government indicates that, including the increase in the price of regular gasoline, Colombia still has one of the cheapest gasoline and diesel prices in Latin America thanks to the operation of the FEPC, which has eased the inflationary pressures of the price increases from oil and its derivatives in recent months.

It points out that if the FEPC had not functioned so far in 2023, the price of regular gasoline and ACPM would have averaged more than $5,000 and $9,800, respectively, above the current average retail price per gallon.
