Elon Musk unveils new Tesla investment plan

Entrepreneur Elon Musk plans to unveil his Master Plan 3 for the electric vehicle maker this Wednesday, Tesla Investor Day, which will include the presentation of a new vehicle platform to produce cheaper models.

The new platform, the company’s third generation, will be the basis for producing cars that are cheaper than Tesla’s current range, as well as for the production of “robotaxis”, automated taxis that do not require a driver.

Musk is also expected to give details about the new assembly plant the manufacturer will install in Mexico during the presentation, which will take place at Tesla’s gigafactory in Austin, Texas (USA) starting at 21:00 GMT.

On Tuesday, Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador said he had reached an agreement with Musk to set up a Tesla factory in the northern city of Monterrey.

The plant, which will join those Tesla has in the US (Fremont, Austin and Nevada), China (Shanghai) and Germany (Berlin), is needed if Musk wants to meet his commitment to producing 20 million vehicles a year by 2030. . . .

Tesla produced 1.31 million vehicles worldwide last year.

Musk is also expected to announce updates to vehicles built on the company’s second-generation platform, the Model Y and Model 3, on Wednesday.

Musk unveiled his first master plan for Tesla in 2006, and now, 10 years later, the controversial businessman has unveiled Master Plan 2 with his vision for the company’s future.
