Jetsmart plans to open three routes in Barranquilla

Low-cost carrier Jetsmart plans to open three routes from Barranquilla to Bogotá, Medellín and Cúcuta. These are part of the 27 routes it plans to operate in the country.

Jetsmart received approval from the Colombian Civil Aeronautics to begin Jetsmart Colombia’s certification process and begin operating domestic routes in the country.

Aerocivil said that under the approved request, the airline would have its main base in the city of Bogotá and use Airbus A320-271 NEO aircraft to cover 27 national routes between the airports of Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, Barranquilla. ., Santa Marta, Bucaramanga, San Andrés, Pereira, Montería, Cucuta, Pasto and Pereira.

The airline has three months, counting from the announcement of the decision, to comply with the certification requirements.

To start operations in the country, certification must be obtained within a non-renewable two-year term.
