Due to the suspension of Viva Air and Ultra Air operations, and the uncertainty in the airline market, some travel agencies reported a drop in their sales before Easter of about 30% compared to sales recorded on the same date in 2022, the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato).
“Despite the positive path tourism has shown, this season reveals a worrying contraction in the marketing of tourism products and services. Easter week is characterized as the starting point to find out the industry’s behavior during the year, which is why this data alerts us,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of Anato.
Within sales, the Caribbean region remains an important destination, with Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andrés, although others such as Mompox also stand out.
“We hope to get the government’s support in creating incentives so that the holiday seasons remain an engine for tourism revitalization,” Cortés said.
