According to the National Employment and Employment Survey (ENOE), posted this friday 32.4 million people had informal work, so the indicator represents 55.5% of the employed population, i.e. 0.9% more than in January.
For the previous period, the number of people employed in informal labor amounted to 32 million people, which is 54.8% of the employed population.
In contrast, unemployment fell to 1.6 million people to stand on 2.7% economically active population (EAP). In January, the figure was 1.8 million Mexicans, 3% of the EAP. The data, in turn, also equates to an annual reduction of 547,000 people.
From my side, 58.3 million people were employed during the second month of the year, i.e. 97.3% of the EAP. Disaggregated by sex, 34.9 million men were employed, for a figure of 23.4 million.
Of the total, 39.9 million (68.4%) were employed or employed, 13.3 million (22.9%) were self-employed, and three million (5.1%) were employers or employers.
By sector of activity, 25.3 million Mexicans (43.3% of the total) worked in services; 11.6 million (19.9%) trade; 9.8 million (16.8%) manufacturing industry; 6.2 million (10.7%) agricultural activity; and 4.7 million (8%) in construction.
Among the employed population part-time – those who declared the need and opportunity to work more hours – 4.3 million, or 7.4% of the employed population. This is a decrease of 0.4% compared to January, when the figure was at the level of 7.8%, and 865 thousand people compared to February 2022.
By sex, in the reference month, the underemployment rate was 7.5% for males and 7.1% for females.
For income level, 20 million 491 thousand 794 workers of the country received the minimum wage and below; 17 million 856 thousand 314 from one to two; and 5 million 110 thousand 251 between 2 and 3, while only 795 thousand 490 received more than 5 minimum wages.
