During the Easter season, 169,537 travelers passed through Rafael Núñez de Cartagena International Airport, a figure that reflects a 27% drop from last year.
During these days, the capital of Bolívar received 66,454 passengers in domestic arrivals and 16,897 international arrivals for a total of 83,351 travelers.
In terms of passengers leaving the city, the airport had a movement of 66,199 domestic passengers and 19,987 international passengers, mainly from airlines such as Avianca and Latam.
Traveler mobilization was impacted, among other things, by the cessation of operations of Viva and Ultra Air.
“Cartagena remains a strategic point for national and international connections, bearing in mind that passenger numbers have fallen by 27% this year compared to 2022,” said María Claudia Gedeón, Corporate Affairs Manager at Sacsa, the company responsible for the international airport Rafael Nunez.
He added that Rafael Núñez International Airport will continue to be an important point for tourism in the city and they will continue to work to have more routes available.
He emphasized that for many people, Cartagena is the first or one of the first options when they think of a destination to rest for a few days, as is the case during Holy Week, because of its cultural and gastronomic offer. Therefore, during these days, Rafael Núñez becomes an important terminal to be a final destination or a passenger connecting point.
