The government is trying to change the criteria to expand energy coverage

The national government is seeking changes to the prioritization criteria for expanding the country’s electricity coverage area.

To this end, it has published two draft decisions for comments on the website of the Ministry of Mines and Energy until April 28 regarding the Fund for Financial Assistance for the Enabling of Non-Interconnected Zones (Fazni) and the Fund for Financial Assistance for the Activation of Connected Rural Areas (FAER).

According to Minenergía, these initiatives try to give more relevance to the areas traditionally affected by the armed conflict, to include the ethnic perspective and to consider the municipalities with the greatest needs.

These funds facilitate the expansion of energy coverage through various actions, such as the expansion of networks connecting new users to the National Interconnected System (SIN), or through electrification solutions with microgrids or individual solutions in areas considered to be non-interconnected zones. , far from SIN respectively.
