Transavia also cancels flights in May and June

Transavia’s flight cancellations are not over yet. The company announced that flights will also have to be canceled in May and June. The airline will announce the figures next week and passengers will be informed.

In this way, the airline hopes to bring clarity to passengers and tour operators sooner. Cancellations often come at the last minute.

Travel companies are currently busy rebooking customers to travel on canceled Transavia flights. A spokesperson for the ANVR association says this does not work in all cases.

Lately

Earlier this month, the company said it had to cancel 5 percent of its flights. There are always new cancellations very soon. As it turned out today, flights have been canceled this weekend as well. There will be no seven flights on Saturday and three on Sunday.

“We are disappointed to notify you when a flight has been cancelled,” an ANVR spokesperson said. “We would have known a few weeks ago that we could rebook customers, but now everything is fine.” Announcements are now better before the last minute, he says, “but it’s not good for fewer people in general to do so. go on vacation”.

For customers who book through a travel company, the travel company should look for an alternative. Individuals who have booked a separate ticket must arrange a new one themselves.

disappointment

At TUI, 3,000 passengers were affected by the cancellations in April and May. A spokesperson for the company said, “We’ve heard about this very recently, and our colleagues are working almost day and night to find alternatives.”

But this doesn’t always work. “In one-third to one-quarter of cases, there is no suitable alternative and the journey cannot continue.” This may be because a traveler cannot arrive at another date or, for example, the hotel is already full on other days.

For earlier clarity, Transavia is now also announcing that it will cancel flights in May and June. “Right now it is disappointing that we have to cancel flights at the last minute before the weekend and it is not the service we intended to offer. “We want to do better in May and June,” says Marloes van Laake, Transavia operations manager at NPO Radio 1 program Nieuws en Co.

lightening

Van Laake says there are three reasons for so many cancellations. Five new devices will be added for the May holidays, but delivery of three of them has been delayed. In addition, heavy maintenance of other aircraft is delayed due to late delivery of parts. This means that we will not put such an aircraft into service again in the planned period.”

After all, the company suffers more than usual from equipment damage. This applies to lightning damage, for example, says Van Laake. That’s why the announcements keep coming, according to the company.

“We experience several setbacks at the same time that we can’t properly deal with,” says Van Laake. “If we could foresee this, we certainly would.”

Seven Transavia aircraft are currently on the ground. A Transavia spokesperson said that normally two to three aircraft will remain on the ground as spare capacity. “A plane can make two or three round trips a day. If you miss four or five flights, you realize that most of them can be cancelled.”

summer holiday

According to ANVR, Transavia didn’t quite catch the forecast. That’s why we’re disappointed: May and summer holidays are the most important vacation times for package tour operators.”

TUI says it is already in talks with Transavia on compensation.

The real question is whether these issues will be resolved by summer. Transavia expects this to be different before summer vacation begins.
