Cesar Ferrari took office as the new financial superintendent (e)

Cesar Ferrari took office as Colombia’s new financial superintendent this Friday, in the presence of Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla.

Ferrari, who has dual Colombian-Peruvian citizenship, was an economic adviser to President Gustavo Petro. Arrived to replace Jorge Castaño who left office last Thursday.

Initially he was appointed Director of National Planning, but due to his dual nationality he was unable to take up this position.

Ferrari is a civil engineer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (1968). He holds a master’s degree in urban planning from New York University and in economic development and a doctorate in economics from Boston University.

Since 1999, he has been a tenured professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in the Department of Economics, where he was Director of the Master in Economics, General Manager Director of the Central Bank of Peru and Technical Director of the National Institute of Planning of Peru. IMF adviser to the central banks of Guinea-Bissau and Angola between 1994 and 1999.

Within his research and publications he has worked on topics such as financial development, globalization and economic policy. He has been a professor and lecturer at several universities in Latin America.
