The National Guarantee Fund (FNG) estimated that of the million credits it intends to disburse nationally over the four-year period, some 200,000 will be distributed in the Caribbean to provide growth opportunities to popular economy companies and so with the aim of achieve more formality.
According to Javier Cuellar, president of the FNG, the vision is to facilitate access to credit for these informal activities that function independently and that have generally not had funding opportunities in different financial entities.
“Some of the meetings are happening in the Caribbean, especially in the Atlantic, and we’re going to focus on the entire popular economy, which has a large participation, so of those million credits that we’re going to disburse nationally, we’re going to think that between 15% and 20% will remain in the Caribbean as potential payouts,” Cuellar told EL HERALDO.
He added that one of the objectives that the FNG has this year is to launch a series of products to counter the “drop by drop” in this type of economy.
