At the end of the first quarter of the year, a total of 2.35 million families in the country were unable to complete three or more meals a day.
This was revealed by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) through the Social Pulse survey for the month of March.
The entity highlighted that out of a total of 8.5 million families, 6.1 million manage to complete three meals a day. This corresponds to 72.4% of households in the country.
For their part, about 2.2 million families in the country eat twice a day, which is 26.5% of the total in the whole country.
The Dane stated that 92,857 households, equivalent to 1.1% of the country’s families, can only eat once a day. In that order it is added that 1,820 families cannot meet their food needs in any way.
This means that compared to the month of March last year, the share of households consuming only twice a day has risen from 24.9% of households in the country to 26.5%.
In parallel, the indicator of families eating only one meal a day dropped from 1.2% to 1.1%, along with that of families eating all three meals, from 73.8% to 72.4%.
