The competitiveness of the Atlantic has seen a significant increase in this index, making it the most competitive division in the world The Caribbean region and the third nationwide.

Said growth in competitiveness is due to advancements in pillars such as environmental sustainability, with a score of 5.5 out of 10, ranking first in the country; health, with a score of 6.9 out of 10 and the second highest in the entire country; infrastructure (third position in the country); financial system (fifth nationally) and business environment along with diversification as the fourth best department.
To this is added one economic growth of 9.3% in 2022 compared to 2021, making it the third fastest growing department in the country, with a gross domestic product (GDP) of $63.7 trillion.
The department also proposed a decrease in its multidimensional poverty, from 15.5% in 2021 to 10.2% in 2022, which represents a reduction of 5.3 percentage points compared to the 2021 indicator. This means that in the Atlantic Ocean many families have had the opportunity to improve their economic income.
