We have inflation under control: Minister of Finance

Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla highlighted the inflation results released by Dane, in which the annual variation for the month of May was 12.36%.

“We reached a maximum of 13.34% last March and in May the rate stood at 12.36%, which means that we have already fallen almost 100 basis points,” said the minister.

For example, he said that the predictions that had been made, according to which inflation is on a downward path, are being fulfilled.

In this sense, he highlighted the behavior of food inflation, which is declining.

“This is due to the fact that there is a better supply and that products such as fruit, vegetables, meat and grains have fallen in price,” explains Bonilla.

He also said that there is a better harvest and food is arriving at supply centers and stores without any problems.

On the other hand, he argued that the price of gasoline is rising, but the fall in food prices compensates for this situation.

Finally, he assured that this is the game for a two-month drop in interest rates and immediate stabilization.
