Tourism expenditure in the first quarter of 2023 in Colombia reached a growth of 34% compared to what was achieved in the same period of 2022.
This has been indicated by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato). Colombian spending reached 1.2 trillion pesos and this shows the interest in the mid range and frequency availability that declined with the departure of two airlines.
For Anato, the Colombian continues to say that he wants to travel, gain new experiences and land transport is an option.
Based on the Danish study on domestic tourism spending, Anato calculated that in the first quarter of 2023 there were almost 1.9 million people engaged in domestic tourism in the country, which corresponds to a growth of 29%, compared to the same months of 2022. But it is still 25% below pre-pandemic levels.
The study also found that the average number of nights spent between January and March 2023 was 5.3 nights; for the same period of 2022 it was 5.4 nights; and for the same months of 2019, 6.4 nights.
“We are going further and further. Perhaps the numbers could have reported higher growth, with better conditions for travelers, but still the industry does not stop and continues to reinforce its resilience and recovery capacity,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president, in a press release from Anato.
