EPM will cover energy tariff stabilization with $100 billion

The administration of EPM stipulated that the costs of stabilizing energy rates for EPM users in 2023 will be covered by the company as a measure that brings economic well-being to the communities.

Daniel Quintero, Chairman of EPM’s Board of Directors, explained that the rate stabilization announced between June and December are no longer legally supported in the fare option mechanism.

“EPM will allocate up to $100,000 million so that these ‘freeze’ funds are not collected from citizens,” Quintero said.

For its part, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, said: “I am pleased that a public company like EPM commit to assess equity and seek regulatory mechanisms to alleviate high energy rates, thus enabling users to direct their resources towards other types of family economic needs.
