In 2018, Jarosław Kaczyński stopped the revolution regarding vehicle check stations in the Sejm. The idea was to remove supervision of the SKP from the starosts and transfer management to a central authority.
The then project of the Ministry of Infrastructure lost with the decision of the president of PiS. This time black clouds hang over entrepreneurs and diagnosticians who, interestingly enough, have been forced to charge the same rates for 19 years. And this despite inflation and the increase in the operating costs of car inspection stations.
Representatives of the vehicle inspection station industry claim that their situation is deteriorating dramatically from year to year. They argue that entrepreneurs who have been conscientiously running a business for years, on whose shoulders lies the responsibility for road safety, are facing more and more problems caused by administration and a lack of understanding of the dramatic financial situation.
– The industry is currently in a difficult economic situation, mainly due to the lack of indexation of the vehicle technical inspection fee. The same fee for technical inspections has been maintained for 19 years, leading to a complete economic disaster of vehicle inspection stations – says DoRzeczy.pl Andrzej Bogdanowicz, president of the National Association of Vehicle Inspection Station Employers.
The call from entrepreneurs about the valorisation of the compensation for technical inspections is addressed to politicians and civil servants of the Ministry of Infrastructure. According to industry representatives, their problems are regularly swept under the rug. A drastic increase in costs, partly related to inflation, is impossible to solve without valorisation of the compensation.
– SKP’s poor financial condition is the result of not listening to the industry’s problems in the spirit of responsibility for road safety. The Ministry of Infrastructure is interested in introducing additional charges and fines that the industry cannot bear financially, adds Andrzej Bogdanowicz.
Experts in the diagnostics market fear that the planned financial burden on the SKP could lead to the seizure of this territory by unknown, probably foreign, entities.
– Such actions lead directly to the acquisition of SKP by foreign funds and large companies. The free market and independence of Polish entrepreneurs can be replaced by a monopolist. The Polish government, which repeats at every step how it supports SMEs, is leading to the collapse of the sector in which mainly small family businesses work throughout Poland. The dangerous situation of the industry is the result of an incomprehensible government policy, resulting in the dramatic financial situation of small Polish entrepreneurs who run SKP – sums up Andrzej Bogdanowicz, who has defended the industry against politicians’ beatings for years.
