Who is responsible for the waste management crisis in Poland – the Law and Justice government or the PO-PSL coalition?

On July 22, a fire broke out in a warehouse at ul. Factory in Zielona Góra – Przylepie. The building contains hazardous chemical waste. The hall has an area of ​​several hundred square meters. At least 60 units of the National Fire Brigade and fire-fighting aircraft came to the scene. About 200 firefighters, 100 soldiers from the Territorial Defense Forces and soldiers from the Central Center for Contamination Analysis were involved in the action.

The issue of the fire in Zielona Góra turned out to be a political subject that aroused great emotions. Civic Platform chairman Donald Tusk posted a message on social media attacking the United Right government.

Minister: Eldorado for waste

– I want to reassure our viewers that there has never been a threat to the life and health of residents in the context of evacuation. There were no omissions in this regard. In such difficult and dramatic situations one has to keep a cool head and act responsibly, said the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński.

On the other hand, the Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moscow judged that it was the PO-PSL government that created “a kind of El Dorado for waste” in Poland.

“Who do you think is responsible for the waste management crisis?” – pollsters from the Institute for Market and Social Research (IBRiS) asked respondents in a new poll for the daily newspaper “Rzeczpospolita”. The survey was conducted through telephone interviews (CATI) on July 28-29 among a sample of 1,100 people.

Most – 46.6 percent. – of respondents believe that both the Law and Justice government and the PO-PSL coalition are responsible for the waste crisis. 31.1 percent of respondents said PiS alone was to blame. On the other hand, 14.7 percent of respondents pointed to the Civic Platform and the Polish People’s Party in this regard. 7.6 percent of survey participants have no opinion on this.
